The work of earthquake prediction may ne hampered , as it is very difficult to find time in working day.
The post of W O /Assistance commissioner demands lots of work, from 8 am to 8 pm
Nevertheless I shall try to take out time on week end days
Unfortunately full time work may not be possible till I retire after 3 years

Yeah everyone knows earthquake is going to happen some where... may be we don know the strength in terms of richter scale.... Why cant u predict the place? And so u beleive world will end in 2012... as u believe many quakes are going to happen in april, may this year! Pl reply

ReplyDelete1) In principle, places can also be predicted,if enough time and resources are allocated to the cause of Earthquake prediction
2) Predictig location is difficult because,
If the time is not accurate(+ or -5 minutes), position of resultant pull will change , as earth moves in orbit and along axis during that time

I am compleatly agree with you.but apart from planets there must be some ground forces beacause earthquake frequency is much higher at mountains and trenches.i think for predicting places we have to find mechanism of these ground forces.

ReplyDeleteThe plate boundries are weak,compared to solid crust.Hence ,when the tidal pull is maximum,it breaks from plate boudries.It is like a weak link in a chain,which breaks first,when applied pull

I don't believe in plate tectonic.you can't expect you throw some balls in a close room and expect sometime balls will move and sometime they will stop or they will move forever.earthquake energy releasing countniosly from creation.there must be some source of this energy by which earthquake energy is creating.i don't think it will be core because if energy release from core whole earth will vibrate.for predicting places we have to find source of earthquake energy which has some releation with mountains, trenches and strange clouds.

2) The force,I believe,behind quakes are
Tidal pull due to sun,moon and planets
and
Jerks in the moletn magma due to momentum change l(due to planets changing direction)

I think around 23 jan gravitional pull is maximum at papua new ireland region because moon just passes through it and sun is also heading toward it.i think enough energy is stored in this area.
