Hi
We are approaching lunar eclipse on comming full Moon. The question frequently asked is whether eclipses induce more quakes?
Answer is- Not necessarily.
In fact, provided other parameters are present ( like major planets chanaging direction , Moon at perigee, close aspects etc),eclipses give more magnitude quakes.
This is because on eclipses Sun ,(Earth) and Moon are not only opposing or joining ,but they are in the same plane,as the shadow of one covers the other

Hi David,
Can you explain why do you think Saturn and Jupiter when stationary give earthquakes, when their gravity effect is a lot smaller than the moon and the sun? Thanks.
Remi
Remi
Yes. Moon has maximum gravitation effect on Earth. Sun has little less (approx 2.5 times less ) effect.
Moon is the main trigger in inducing the quakes.
Now ,When Major planets like Jupiter, Venus and Saturn when changes directions,it creates imbalance inside the crust. It is like breaking or accelerating effect on molten magma inside the crust.(similar force noticed when brake or accelerator is applied in a car)
Thus when following things are present major quakes (6.5+) occurs.
These things are stated in order of importance ie in descending order.
1) Major planets changing the direction. If two or more planets changes the direction in short span of two/three days ,the quake could be 7+
2) Moon at Perigee
3) Full Mon or New Moon
4) Moon at o,90,180 or 270 degree with the planet changing the direction
5)Jupiter ,Venus or Mars closer to Earth
6)Moon at Equator
7) Major planets in aspects with each other (0,90,180 or 270) degrees )
8)Moon at extreme declination
9) Eclipses
The date and time is fixed when trigger ,Moon, enters 0,90,180or 270 degrees with the Sun or planet changing the direction
Thus a huge (8) quake is expected
when
1) Two or more major planets changes the directions on same day
2) Moon at perigee
3)Full Moon or New Moon
4) Jupiter ,Venus Saturn and Mars are at closest position to Earth
5) Sun and Moon at same declinations
6) Sun ,Jupiter Saturn and Venus are in close aspects (0,90,180, or 270 degrees )
Watch 21st to 23 rd December 2010 for 6.5 earthquake)

Thanks Amit for explaining in laymans terms. However can you post typical calculations for Saturn say as one rotating body and molten lava inside the earth say to work out those forces? Only then we have a comparison with moon perigee-apogee for example. So numbers help ... thank you again.
Remi
Can we also have any assumptions about the molten magma inside the earth? Is it rotating? See http://mb-soft.com/public/tecto2.html
Hi
Deailed calculaons would be a complicated thing. Better ,we observe the dates
I expect a quake of 6.4 to 6.6 between 21st to 23rd December 2010. Place not known
The problem with place pin pointing is
My Time accurcy is only + or - 12 Hrs. If the time inaccurcy is more than + or - 5 minutes ,the place is lost. The Earth moves in orbit and along axis during that time
Moreover ,in certain cases, when pull is maximum, the earh crust is solid (ie not plate boundry). It may wait for the tme (4 to 6 Hrs) when plate boundry comes under the pull

tidal forces in our solar system.
Moon 2.1
Sun 1.00
Venus 0.000113
Jupiter 0.0000131
Mars 0.0000023
Mercury 0.0000007
Saturn 0.0000005
Uranus 0.000000001
Neptune 0.000000002
Pluto 0.0000000000001
add up all the planets influence to the moon and sun it would increase the ocean tides by 1/25mm. 1/25mm on a liquid would mean no influence on rock, therefore jupiter and saturn have no influence on earthquakes. With the frequency of an earthquake M6.5 or above every year being on avg twice a week(100 times a year according to USGS) it is easy to say that one will occur during any week of the year "somewhere" with 100% accuracy.
hi
A quake of 6.5 at Iran on 20th December 2010 ,is the proof of theory
Yes . 6+ quakes occur 100+ n a year. However predicting a hit (+ or - 24 Hrs accurcy is not a random act.
In fact, on this blog I have given an open invitation to one and all to post their radom dates . Those will be compared till December 2010.
Roger Hunter (Rtd Siesmologist from USGS will evaluate and give result) He is kind enough and agreed to do that

Tidal force is not the answer but then what is it? Conservation of angular momentum? What is the magna angular momentum and why Saturn and Jupiter give max earthwquakes, although I do not observe this. If Saturn gives max quakes then one MUST show the theory as to WHY in NUMBERS. Otherwise it is a speculation as it is NOT gravitational attraction...
Can we have some numbers on rotation if this is to do with the effect?
Thanks

Here is some figures for Jupiter changing the direction for 5 years
Here is the exact figure for last 5 years .
date-Jupt changing--6+quake for month
date--------------6+ quakes
03.01.2005---------33(15 days +or-)
6.06.2005-----------11
5.03.2006-----------13
6.07.2006-----------14
7.04.2007-----------33
7.08.2007-----------25
10.05.2008----------16
09.09.2008----------16
16.06.2009----------09
14.10.2009----------23
---------------------
total------------193 for 5 years
ie for 10 months ie 19.3 per month 6+ quakes
As per USGS average 150 quakes of 6+ occur per year .ie 12.5 per month
so 19.3 per month is far more than 12.5 per month average

Hi Amit, and thanks for replying to me. I agree totally that the dates are correct but the link between 2 stationary point dates and 19 6+ quakes is at MOST an indication. What is NEEDED is angular momentum calculations to show that the earth Jupiter and Earth-Saturn system is stronger than Earth Moon or other planet. That is the only way. Thats why I asked for it. In fact I wonder if we can assume the earth as a solid body or a compound body with fluid in above the core which may move. THAT is needed otherwise its all handwaving.
Thanks again for your kind consideration.
Remi
hi
there are three major quakes on predicted date
Iran 6.5
japan region 7.4
Indonesia 6.2
pl see my web page

Hi David, your blog has no calculations. I suggest you ask someone who is a Physicist to do them for you. Only then you will be a little more convincing.
Sorry I think you are handwaving as you have NO stats which prove anyhing and no Physics behind it.
Remi
hi
Now you can view my monthly earthquake predictions for 7+ quakes ,dirctly from the link mentioned at the righside of this blog. There are three dates mentioned in the calender. The middle one is the predicted date and + or - one day staes the window period of quake
