Kermadec Island earthquake of 7.7 on 7th July 2011

Roger
Mumbai city receives nearly 2500 mm of rainfall every year. We ,in Municipal corporation clean the drais and open gutter during April and May every year.
During June to September every year we provide portable deisel pump sets at flooding spots.
As I am inchrge of Engineering Vigilence dept of Mech and Elec wing it becomes very hectic every year during these period.
Hence I could not up load July dates as a seperate blog
Nevertheless pl see my annual dates

http://earthquake-prediction.blogspot.com/2011/01/earthquake-prediction-dates-7-for-year.html
where July 9 is mentioned as 7+ quake date.
Santosh ,here is clue for cycle quale.June 30/ 1st July 2011 was given for June .This is yet another cycle quake

please see my web page
http://earthquakeprediction.webs.com/ and go to calender for July 2011

I believe,there will be yet another 6.5+ either to day 8th or 9th July 2011
Roger, even if we take 9 th as my date(predicted ) for 7+ quake, what are the odds of getting hit with + or - 3 days ?( because it occured on 6 th July 2011- UTC and 7th as per IST)

Amit Sir,

Good, I do not know if this can be treated as cycle quake ? This might be a pending quake from June 2011 gravity also.
Theory shows one very major quake on 22nd July 2011 when gravity is very low from all ( Sun, Moon and planets ) .

best regards

Amit;

WOW! That's 10 times as much as we get here in Colorado.

The odds on a 7+ quake in a 7 day window are 0.245 while a 6.5+ has odds of 0.557.

Might as well flip a coin if you go that low.

As I write this (13.30 HRs IST on 8th July 2011),we have 205 mm of rain fall in last 24 Hrs.
Some of the area are flooded.The pumps installed have not been enough to drain water from such cloud brust
The basic problems are
1)heavy south west monsoon-JUne to Sept-2500 mm /annum
2)Original Mumbai was made up of 7 islands.The reclaimed area are low lying
3)When there is heavy rain(more than 25mm per Hr)as well as High tide co insiding,the flooding occurs
4)During high tide the flood gates are closed to restrain high tide water entering the city,and hence rain water can not go to sea
5)Recently we have commissined two heavy duty pumping stations(5 pumps of 6 mtr cube/sec capacty) to drain these waters
By the way on 26th July 2005 we had 940 mm of rain fall in a day out of which nearly 500 mm in 6 Hrs

Any way, Mumbai city was recently awared - as best city in handling strom drains-

Amit;

That's a beautiful city but a very dangerous place to live.

With that much reclaimed land and such heavy rainfall, a quake at the wrong time will liquify the filled areas with disasterous results.
